Mike Murphy Biography
He may be a new artist to some, but he's no new kid on the block when it comes to his music. Singer/songwriter, Mike Murphy is set to release his new single: "Tap That" b/w "Stay" from his forthcoming album , II Chance , for Vibe Records /Lightyear Entertainment, Lp/Distributed by WEA, in late October 2004. II Chance, for Vibe Records/Lightyear Entertainemnt, Lp/WEA Distribution. The funky lead single “Tap That”, is a perfect blend of R&B and rhythm song destined for multi format airplay. Expect this debut single to become this year’s hit. II Chance is produced by Mike Murphy and Hamza Lee (known for producing the multi platinum group, Color Me Badd.) Hamza met Mike Murphy and was blown away with his talent, diligent work ethic and incredible vocals. In addition, friend and co-producer, Jason Daylrimple is featured on several of the tracks. respectable producer, Hamza Lee (Color Me Badd) knocks out a hit song with “Tap That” which introduces feisty female rapper Eternity who is also the inspiration for “Tap That”. A second version of the track will feature Ms. Roq (Dr. Dre CHRONIC 2000). II Chance features a remix of “Tap That” by Keith Shocklee, (formerly from the infamous " Bomb Squad" & Vic Flowers from House of Tray, the mix of cuts that can stand on their own, but together represent an impressive debut for Mike Murphy. Murphy, who by the way is the son of a preacher man. Murphy grew up in Canton, Ohio, where he began singing as a kid, in his father’s church. There he gained a respect and love for music, which included everything from Gospel to Soul and R&B. The song “ Stay” ,showcases Murphy’s vocal ability and his emotional side. “ My music is a refreshing collection of sincere emotion,” Murphy says, “I cover topics like pain, love, libido, and how we cope with these things.”
A singer, a songwriter, a
soldier. Mike Murphy joined the United
States Armed Forces as a teenager and was
stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana. He was
deployed to Bosnia during that country's unrest.
While enlisted, Murphy also toured the
U.S. as a singer. He was hand picked by Army
Entertainment to sing for the troops.
"It was a humbling experience to be an
Army Entertainer,"
Murphy says, "I
had to pay my dues."
Now that he has paid his
dues, Mike Murphy is armed and ready
to take on the music industry with
Love Song. The powerhouse debut
album, from this new and exciting
artist is due out in early February of 2005.
